2025 Report of Family (Net) Work
In 2025, there is a growing awareness in Italy of the strategic role of domestic work, which is at the intersection of an ageing population, families’ care needs, and the evolution of the labour market. The ‘Family (Net)Work – Laboratory on Home, Family and Domestic Work’ has tackled the following issues over the course of the year with analyses, surveys and European comparisons: the complexity of the demand for family care reflecting all the critical aspects of an ageing or non-self-sufficient
population; the persistence of irregular work exposing workers and families to conditions of uncertainty and instability in labour relations; the inadequacy of the supply of domestic work accompanied by misaligned management of foreign worker flows with respect to family expectations, prospects for evolution and risks of involution in an employment sector that is as necessary as it is distant from the legislator’s attention. The results of these analyses, surveys and comparisons have been collected in
this 2025 Report.
